    DMOG (Dimethyloxaloylglycine) is an antagonist of α-ketoglutarate cofactor and inhibitor for HIF prolyl hydroxylase. Prolyl 4-hydroxylase (P4H) inhibitor; inhibits hypoxia-inducible factor α (HIF-α) prolyl hydroxylase (HIF-PH). Increases levels of HIF-1α; promotes cell survival under hypoxic conditions. DMOG has been observed to upregulate hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) in HMEC-1 cells, attenuating redox factor 1 (REF-1). PHT cells exposed to DMOG were observed to upregulate the follistatin-like 3 (FSTL3) transcription. Attenuation of myocardial injury by DMOG was also demonstrated using a rabbit ischemia reperfusion model. In NGF deprived neurons, DMOG increased cell survival through inhibition of cytochrome c release.
