Sulfonamide antibiotic that blocks the synthesis of dihydrofolic acid by inhibiting the enzyme dihydropteroate synthase. It is a competitive inhibitor of dihydropteroate synthestase to block the synthesis of folic acid with IC50 of 320 μM.
